  Camden County was formed on March 13, 1844, from portions of Gloucester County. Waterford Township was originally created by Royal charter on June 1, 1695, while the area was still part of Gloucester County. On March 13, 1844, Waterford Township became one of the original townships in the newly-created Camden County. ---- The Ancestry database "U.S., Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935" at for New Jersey - Camden - Newton Preparative Meeting - Register of Interments, 1813-1885 has the following entries 3 Nov 1822 Parker, Ellis' child 8 Jan 1826 Ellis Parke (assumed to be Parker) 11 Jan 1846 Sarah Parker 26 Jun 1862 Howard Parker I have assumed the Ellis Parker that died 8 Jan 1826 is the cirrect person based on circumstancial evidence that Sarah was his wife and Howard was their son. Under this act all men between the ages of 18 and 45 years who were able bodied could either enroll in the county militia or pay an annual tax of three dollars. However, exempt from these were all government officials, postal officials, mail stage and mail ferry drivers, mariners and ministers of the Gospel. Waterford Township (now Camden County) EXEMPTS: list included: Ellis and Richard PARKER [Note: 1793-18=1775 1793-45=1748] ---- Gloucester Co. land records involving Ellis Parker and Sarah Parker Book E.E.
