Notes - The Barge family record on page 1682-1683 of George Powell's book notes Abraham and Hannah married 7 Jan 1811. Some marriage record sources (Craven Co. Court record, NC marriage bond) from North Carolina have 8 Jan 1812. I went with NC court docuemnts versus family bible with may have been based on faulty recollections.
--------
Barge family bible can be found online at
http://digital.ncdcr.gov/cdm4/document.php?CISOROOT=/p15012coll1&CISOPTR=7366&REC=1
--------
George Powell books lists children William B. and Robert. Because of the birthdates noted in his copy of the Barge family record I suspect these are not Abraham's children. They may be grandchildren.
These same children are also noted in Oliver's Barge book, without exact birth years (e.g. 18__)
Either the biirth dates in the family bible are in error or these are not children of Abraham. I assumed they are not Abraham's children..

Excerpts:
William J Barge History
Abram [Abraham] followed the sea, in his younger days, for many years, until the thunder struck his vessel and it deafened him so that he could hardly hear. He then retired from the sea and settled at Washington County, Georgia. and was successful as a farmer. Accumulated a pretty property there.

Bk 53 Pg 455: On 11 Mar 1835 Abraham Barge of Washington Co. Georgia deeded a tract of land to Duncan McCormick for $50. Note: This was not registed until 1857. George Powell book has Abraham dying in 1840. So some confusion exists in my mind on this deed. Plus, selling 1000 acres for $50 seems weird also.
