    • Note Marriage license has 17 Oct 1885 and marriage certificate has 18 Sep 1885.
      The Rust of Virginia has them married 18 Oct 1885.

      I have assumed they got the license on 17 Oct 1885 and were married 18 Oct 1885.
      But it could also very well be Sep instead.
      With conflicting data their is no way to tell.

      JOSHUA RUFFIN RUST--6-B76, was born April 30,1859, Bridgewater, North Carolina, died November 3, 1908,
      being accidentally killed while attempting in discharge of his duties as Justice of the Peace to prevent a threatened homicide between two quarreling political antagonists. He married October 18, 1885, Leonora Virginia Buffaloe, Raleigh, North Carolina, born December 11, 1864, daughter Benjamin Bennett and Cornelia (Trawick) Buffalos. She was educated at Chowan Baptist Female Institute, Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Joshua Ruffin Rust was educated at Rutherford College, North Carolina, and later taught school, and was a merchant and farmer. Home of widow: Bridgewater, North Carolina.

      JOSHUA R. RUST - VIRGINIA BUFFALOS
      Joshua R. Rust was the son of Joseph R. and Sarah (Sally) McCall Rust. He was educated at Rutherford College and taught school before he married. He lived on the farm settled by his great-grandfather, Peter Rust in 1780. Peter was a private in Revolutionary War both in Virginia and Burke County. A private in Captain McFarlin's company, Colonel McDowell's North Carolina regiment, on an expedition against the Indians. Joshua was a merchant and farmer. He, also, served as a Justice of the Peace. Their children are as follows:
