Notes - These website may provide information on what George Powell calls "Baptist Church of Christ, Hickory Creek" on page 239 of his book. I am not sure these websites are for the same church, although the location seems the same. Nor am I sure the John Powell noted as "preacher before 1840" is the same John Powell but some names mentioned on these website also are mentioned in George's book (i.e. Stroud).

It seems possible that John Powell and Sarah "Sally" Pope went to either Clarke Co. or Oglethorpe Co. Georgia with John's brothers Henry (married to Sally Popes sister Mary "Polly" Pope) and Moses (married to Sally Popes sister Nancy Pope). Henry Powell and family eventually went to Alabama, John Powell and family eventually went to Warren Co. Tennessee, and Moses Powell and family stayed in Clarke Co. Georgia.
